Computing Wish List for Blessed Sacrament

(Believe it or not, I do update this. Last update December 6th, 2011)

Hello, as a former student of Blessed Sacrament and parent of two graduated children who would have even imagined this technology revolution and also the rate at which the computers go obsolete.

As a computing consultant and 22 year system and network manager for corporations and universities I know the difficulties in trying to stay current. What follows below is a wish list of items that if you find it possible to donate or otherwise obtain for use at Blessed Sacrament School or Parish. I am a staff member now and handle the IT needs of both environments.

We have won an obsolescence battle at Blessed Sacrament but are now just dealing with wear and tear. If you have any of the items here or wish to inquire about other items, please feel free to contact me.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARENTS, PARISH MEMBERS, ALUMNI, BUSINESSES AND VENDORS THAT HAVE RESPONDED!!! WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!

The Computing Hardware Wish List

Item Approx Cost New Notes
LCD Monitor Donations
PLEASE NO CRT DONATIONS
$100-$200 At the current time, we have spares and LCD monitors for all systems. Contact us however if your LCD is larger than 17" for possible upgrade of existing LCDs
PC USB Only Keyboards and laser mice (new or really clean) < $20 Wear and Tear. USB only please. We have piles of old PS2 keyboards and no longer need them. We also prefer "laser" mice compared to the roller ball style of mouse due to cleaning requirements. A recent donation replaced all roller ball mice!
Memory chips of various types and makes Contact me More memory is always better. In particular we are always looking for laptop memory donations to improve the speed of those units for the kids. Thanks to ALL recent donors of laptop and desktop memory!
Very specific SATA Drive needs Contact me The central server uses a enterprise class of SATA drive for their various RAIDs. Donations would need to match existing configurations. Contact me if interested.
Additional Cisco Access Points $400-$500 I am moving the school wireless to enterprise grade access points to handle larger number of laptops per class (over 30). I am standardizing on a Cisco AP type that works well in our building so far. If interested, please contact me.
