MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!!!!!
Sunday February 13th, 2011 is the date set for the 26th annual Blessed Sacrament Spaghetti Dinner!
Every year, the Blessed Sacrament Athletic Committee sponsors this fund raising event to support the extra-curricular sports activities at Blessed Sacrament. This is the only fund raising event for sports throughout the entire school year.
This event is not possible without the help of some very important contributors. First, there are countless volunteers that assist in making the Spaghetti Dinner a success. The founders of this event, Hank & Karen Cuccia, were instrumental in providing their time and talent (just try the meatballs!) when they started this event. There are many others who also contribute - including former school families and/or parishioners as we as many area businesses.
Second, all the student athletes and their parents are asked to commit both time and talent to this event. As student athletes and parents of student athletes, you are asked to volunteer in the many areas we need assistance (which includes selling tickets for the dinner). Student athletes in each grade (5th through 8th) are assigned a time to work in the dining room to serve patrons, bus tables and assist in clean up. Parents are also assigned many duties - usually with their student athlete. Without the help of everyone, this event wouldn't be possible.
So, what do the proceeds from this event go toward? In the past, some of the areas addressed by the proceeds from the Spaghetti Dinner included:
-
Improvements to the gymnasium:
-
o New lighting and rewiring of the electrical circuits
-
o Improvements/Repairs to the gymnasium roof
-
o Medical equipment for the gym (defibrillator)
-
New glass entrances to the gymnasium.
-
Sports supplies (balls, medical kits, etc.)
As the date approaches, all student athletes will receive more information about the Spaghetti Dinner. We, the Athletic Committee, look forward to another successful event in 2011! |
