Kindergarten

It's the time when children know they've made it to "big kid" status.  Kindergarten is offered both in our Montessori Children's House and in our Primary Unit (Grades 5K-3).  The curriculum in both programs integrates all content areas (including foreign language, music and gym) and the children finish the year ready for 1st grade in our  Primary Unit.   Religion is a regular part of the day, formally and informally.  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd provides the base for faith formation.

Children become developmentally ready for core subjects like reading and math at different times.  This range is why our multi-age program works so well both in the Montessori and in the Primary classrooms.   Children's learning isn't confined to their single grade level.  They are able to learn at their point of challenge.  

Children are also helped to refine the social skills that help them be caring, creative, cooperative, confident individuals!  They are encouraged to share their ideas, talk about their feelings and solve their problems
